Hi Betty, My husband and I just returned from a trip to Nova Scotia that I had been anticipating with excitement and curiosity. I have been researching my family history for many years and needed to see first hand where my ancestors began their life in Canada, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. I never by any stretch of the imagination believed I would be so fortunate to discover not only the family ancestral home still standing or the family cemetary behind that home but a book written about my family and the Read women I have documented in my family tree. I am a descendant of all of the same people, so to be introduced to your book at the Cumberland Museum Society in Amherst recently I was thrilled beyond belief. I have read it cover to cover and over again. Your recounting of events, the failies, the sorrows and joys made me think of our own and how our family is linked to many stories like yours. My mother is a Read and her parents, grandparents, GG grandparents, etc. are all descendants of Stephen Read. I would like to close by saying Thank You for your story of these amazing women and allowing us the pleasure of capturing a piece of our family that we have known about but not known. My trip to Nova Scotia will never be forgotten for it's discoveries. Your book will be treasured and passed among the women in our family to inspire us to remember our own stories.
